Bachelor of Theology

Designed to prepare servant-leaders for a variety of vocational, and volunteer church-oriented ministry locally and worldwide. The undergraduate level programs are informational, developmental building blocks designed to introduce the student to all aspects of Biblical, Theological and Ministerial disciplines, equipping him or her to better implement that which is learned in the work of the ministry.

The Th.B. degree is awarded to persons completing 128 hours of credit in a program with emphases in Bible and Theology, and a concentration in one of the following areas of ministry:

     Pastoral Ministry:

The purpose of this program is to train men to serve as pastors in the local church. In addition to a thorough grounding in Scripture, the pastoral emphasis offers training in preaching, Biblical counseling, leadership and Biblical languages. FGS specializes in preparing pastors for churches. Graduates under this program often continue on with graduate studies or step directly into full-time ministry.

     General Ministry:

This emphasis is designed to equip men and women for a variety of ministry opportunities, especially in the area of Christian education, youth ministry, children ministry, campus ministry, missions, or ministry in a para-church organization. Graduates under this program often continue on with graduate studies or step directly into full-time ministry.

Objectives of the Bachelor of Theology Program

Upon completion, the student will:

     Academic:
A. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the entire Bible
B. Articulate the basic doctrines of the Christian faith
C. Rightly divide the Scripture

     Spiritual:
A. Model daily obedience to God's Word in his/her life
B. Develop a consistent devotional life
C. Display a Biblical worldview in his/her private and public life

     Professional:
A. Prepare for advanced professional education
B. Utilize the skills and tools necessary for practical Christian ministry
C. Develop a consistent pattern of evangelism and discipleship
